summary

To create and maintain the ideal living environment, the Department of Environmental Design comprises the following three fields: 1) Theoretical studies on various relations between people and environment from the point of view of history, philosophy, anthropology and chemistry in addition to the conservation of natural environment; 2) Practical planning and design of the environment from a natural, regional, urban, historical and architectural viewpoint; 3) Studies on various environmental systems including disaster mitigation, environmental control, and economics of the living environment as well as design and product system of the built environment.

Research

 Theory of Environmental Design

Advanced research and education for creating ideal living environments are developed based on theoretical studies on various relations between people and environment from the point of view of history, philosophy, anthropology and chemistry in addition to the conservation of natural environment.

Environmental Planning and Design

Advanced practical planning and design of the environment from a natural, regional, urban, historical and architectural viewpoint are developed, which are required for creating ideal living environments.

Environmental System

Students learn advanced studies and education on various environmental systems including disaster mitigation, environmental control, and economics of the living environment, as well as developing design and product systems of the constructed environment, which are required for maintaining ideal living environments.
